Approved Courses 2020 – 2021
As a licensed landscape contractor you must personally attend the course/activity to obtain credit. Filing false information is a violation of North Carolina law (N.C.G.S. 89D).
Emergency Rule: On April 7, 2020, the NC Landscape Contractors’ Licensing Board voted to approve an Emergency Rule regarding Continuing Education (CE) credits required for license renewal for August 1, 2020 – July 31, 2021 in response to the issues from the COVID-19 virus . The Board took this action to support the social distancing directive by the Federal and State Government, and to assist licensed landscape contractors unable to locate in-person continuing education classes due to the social distancing directives.
The emergency rule allows a one year extension of continuing education requirements for the license year ending July 31, 2020. Credits already obtained for the current licensing year ending July 31, 2020 will be applied to the next year ending July 31, 2021. All licensed landscape contractors are still required to keep a record of their completed continuing education credits.
The following courses have been approved for continuing education credits (CEL) toward the landscape license requirement for:
August 1, 2019 – July 31, 2021
In accordance with the April 7, 2020 emergency rule, the seven (7) hours of Continuing Education credits will need to be fulfilled anytime between August 1, 2019 and July 31, 2021 of the licensing year. Credits already obtained for the licensing year ending July 31, 2020 will be applied to the next year ending July 31, 2021.
At least three of the seven CEUs must be technical (landscape) credits and at least two of the seven CEUs must be business credits. The number of business credit hours for a course are indicated with “B” to the right of the “Hours Credit”, and landscape (or technical) credit hours are indicated with an “L”.
Licensees may not take the same CEU course within two consecutive licensing years. (21 NCAC 28B .0402)
No more than four CEU credits shall be given for pesticide license credits issued by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services in one year. (21 NCAC 28B .0402, effective August 1, 2019)
When attending a NCLCLB approved continuing education course, be sure to sign in on the official NCLCLB Sign-In sheet and get your official NCLCLB Proof of Attendance form (for your records) at the end of the class from the course provider. Keep your Proof of Attendance records for 2 years in case of audit.
This Board considers continuing education for approval for landscape license requirements only. The Board is not involved with locations, course fees, or any logistics relating to continuing education courses.
