The proposed rule amendment is necessary for the Board to keep up with the increased complaints and the subsequent cost of investigations, and technology improvements requested by licensees. Implementation of the new on-line portal (similar to the NCDA Pesticide Portal, but much improved for landscape contractors use) will allow licensed landscape contractors to keep track of their continuing education credits 24/7/365, and will have many other useful features for licensees, such as tracking renewal status, license history, updating your personal information and other helpful components. The license fees have been the same for 5 years, but investigation and technology costs have increased for the Board.
The Board is hopeful that this modest proposed increase comes at the best time since landscape contractors have been able to save on continuing education costs (needing only 7 CEU’s in 2 years rather than 14 CEU’s) while demand for landscape services have increased.
In accordance with N.C.G.S. 150B-21.2(c), NC Landscape Contractors’ Licensing Board hereby gives notice to all interested persons that it has submitted to the Office of Administrative Hearings – Rules Review Commission for publication in the North Carolina Register the Notices of Text for administrative rule amendments and adoptions under consideration.
